Avant-Garde Builders the name describes the work. Walt Pitts, owner and founder continually strives to be Greater Columbia’s leading, most advanced homebuilder. Avant-Garde’s home building process is truly unique their success is achieved through their dedication to creating the perfect home for their clients. They are proud to deliver quality construction in every new home or remodeling project.

Walt and his family are natives of the Lexington area, with a strong tie to the community and the needs of its residents. He graduated from Vanderbilt University, with a double major in mechanical engineering and mathematics. This accomplishment allows him to blend a strong construction savvy and precise attention to details. Prior to beginning his construction career, Walt practiced mechanical engineering for eight years, with much success, as he has several United States Patents in his name.

In 2003, Walt went on to build homes, and later founded Avant-Garde Builders. With his many years working “hands-on” in renovating and building homes in the Columbia area, Walt has made continues to make a positive impact throughout the state.

Avant-Garde utilizes only the finest craftsmen, subcontractors, vendors, and an in house team to build and remodel homes. Their owner is personally involved and on-site at every project. Avant-Garde understands the importance of having owner of a company manage the development of the products created. They adhere to a strict and very high level of quality, and develop long-term relationships with associates who share the same standards.

The Avant-Garde team works closely with its clients through every step of the building process. Most clients have the image of their dream home in mind.
